You become a better at something by doing. They say practice makes perfect (whoever that "they" are)... Well I have began the treachurous journey of applying to colleges. And the feared Moby Dick of the application process- the essay. Dun Dun Dunn!... It really is frightening. “Simple” questions like “who are you” - not what do you do or what describes you but, who are you- haunt us in the few precious hours of rest we get between school work. So I decided to write a blog, I figured it’d help with my writing and I could use it, at first at least, as a way to brainstorm on my college essays. Why not? Since colleges want to ask such big life questions to 17 and 18 year olds, why not document them. Maybe I’ll look back 20 years from now and laugh or realize I was somehow totally right. So I will try to write a question or prompt with a college question that will hopefully get me thinking. Or I guess I’ll just write. Whatever is on my mind- it helps you not hesitate (which's a theater exercise), gives you lots of good ideas that may be in your subcouncious, and just why not...
I definitely don’t expect anyone to truly read this ha, but who knows. Isn't that where all the truly memorable stories start from. Anne Frank did not know she would live on as a source of hope for millions and Julie Powell did not suspect her blog through Julia Child's cookbook would be turned into a motion picture. I am not saying I will be of that caliber or reading any of my rambling woes will be life changing, but I decided I'm just doing it. And I could read a fellow blogger's blog that launches the onslaught of a revolution or great novel.
Plus, I like the sound of that... "my fellow bloggers." So, my fellow bloggers, here goes nothing...
